Passport, Identification, Fur Vest.

The title of this post may confuse you, but it is just a snippet of my packing list for my study abroad trip to Ireland. This morning my friend and I who are traveling together had to go to the pre-departure info session for our upcoming trip in mid-October. Obviously you need your passport, identification, money, but WHAT ABOUT YOUR FAUX FUR VEST?!?!? (We made the addition to our program packing list from the meeting in crayon.)
Photobucket
When I was about 12 I begged my mother to buy me a fur vest. Yes, I said 12 years old. I can't imagine what ensemble I would have paired it with at the time but I have a sneaking suspicion it would have involved wearing platform candies Spice Girls sneakers. (Anyone?)

Since the new season of The Rachel Zoe Project debuted, I have wanted one of these! What a perfect fall/winter accessory that can keep you warm and looking hot. I love the throwback 70's feel of the entire look when paired with flare jeans. In the effort of not having PETA sick me with crimson paint, I only want a faux fur vest. Since I am on the mailing list for The Zoe Report (click here to sign up yourself) I received an email previewing Rachel Zoe's new line for QVC. She has a fabulous faux fur vest that will debut with her line on October 10. I have found some other options as well that are also fab!!!

The faux fur vest is a great way to look chic while wearing a plainer outfit. Simply throw one on with jeans, boots to the knee, and a long sleeve plain top and you are set!

(Just had to make a comment that yes, this really is from JCPenney, not a joke. Ironically enough right before I found this I got an email about a scholarship opportunity from JCPenney where you are challenged to go in to the store and basically evaluate their merchandise and opportunities. I just may do this now!)

I love this one! It has great lining around the arms as well to keep in warmth and add comfort!

The Good, The Bad, and the Emmy's

Hopefully everyone had the chance to catch the fashion that rocked (and rolled) the Emmy's. I had midterms last week (hence the lack of blogging) and am SO thankful that they are OVER! Hopefully I did well, cross your fingers! So, in the effort of being scholastically responsible, this will be my first blog post in a WEEK! It feels like it has been a YEAR! Hopefully my sarcastic musings were sorely missed by everyone.

I have to admit that I mainly only watched the pre-show and flipped back and forth to witness ensemble changes. I mean, contrived poorly scripted "witty" banter between actors and actresses who can somehow garner millions in audience members but can't spit out a one minute monologue and open an envelope is somehow less appealing than memorizing the phone book. BUT, you don't have to watch the show in its entirety to see the fashion hits and misses that graced this year's Emmy's.

Here's my take on what went down.

The Good
Photobucket
Blake Lively
Needless to say S rocked it in this red hot Versace gown. Also needless to say Ryan Seacrest needed an extra strong Brawny to wipe up his drool after their interview. Obviously sister can't go wrong with that body! I could do without the Paris Hilton faux pony but hey, just sayin.

Photobucket
January Jones
I love her. The geometric pattern of this Versace dress perfectly complements her simplistic look. I like to think if someone like Katy Perry were to wear this everyone would be like "Oh yuck, there she is trying to be DIFFERENT!" But since it was the beautiful and graceful January Jones, it just works. Then again, she could have rocked that ensemble to her right if she really wanted to be a 10.

Photobucket
Kristin Chenoweth
How precious is she!? Homegirl has to be about 85 lbs and 4'5" and she looked phenomenal at the Emmy's. I wouldn't be surprised if her blood is made of bubbles and sunshine. I am normally not so big of a fan of the short dress to an event like the Emmy's but I really think that she looked great.

Photobucket
Drew Barrymore
OK OK OK. I will admit it. I usually DO NOT like what Drew wears. But she really looked great! Not too much of a fan of the red lip paired with the ballet slipper pink but I am glad she is movin' on up. Even if it has taken her 35 years in the limelight to get a decent stylist.

The Bad
Photobucket
Hayden Panetierre
Ok girl. Since I unfortunately wasted my life reading gossip sites and mags I am aware of the train wreck that is Hayden's mother. BUT, that is not an excuse to dress like an old crazy lady. This is the ultimate no no for age appropriate dressing. TOO MUCH!

Photobucket
Sarah Silverman
Maybe this dress was a joke. Well, if it was, then it is the funniest joke Sarah Silverman has ever made. Sarah, your hips are throwing up blue fabric. Bad bad bad.

Photobucket
Karina Smirnoff
If this dress isn't TERRIBLE her makeup is. Just because you are a dancer on "Dancing with the Stars" doesn't mean you need to look like you are about to compete in a cheerleading competition. Maybe her makeup artist was drinkin' too much Smirnoff putting on that foundation.

Photobucket
Leighton Meester
Dear B, I love you. But it looks like you may have crafted your sleeves from a Carnival Cruise Line towel animal.

Padma Lakshmi
Holly Hobby at its WORST. That is all I have to say.

PS I took all these pics (besides the towel monkey if that was not obvious) from www.evilbeetgossip.com so don't sue me.

Nanette Le-MORE MORE MORE!

Nanette Lepore's Fall line is nothing short of WOW! Definitely leaving you wanting more! (And setting up an appointment to sell your blood plasma to afford the studded coat.) I never really think of Nanette Lepore as one of my favorite lines but I am very impressed with the Fall pieces I have seen. Here are some of my favorites.

I WANT THIS COAT OMG. How fabulous is this?!? I need this for my trip to Ireland. AND the fact that it is called the "Party Girl" coat? LOVES!

Photobucket
$598
How perfect would this be under the coat? And I love the look with black tights underneath. Perfect for a night out in chilly weather this Fall! If it is really cold it would look great even with a tight black long sleeve shirt underneath.

Photobucket
"Egyptian" Leather Vest
$598
I would love to pair this vest with a flowy purple dress! The contrast of the two materials would look great and keep you from looking like Easy Rider.

It's Fall Y'all!

You know what that means?

COLLEGE FOOTBALL!
Photobucket

And if you live in the South, it also means tailgating, sundresses, cornhole, seersucker, and cheering on your favorite team every Saturday. This week the Gators demolished *insert small time school here* so it was another opportunity to partake in some serious tailgate action. In the spirit of college football, I have found some great gameday dresses for my ladies in the SEC and beyond! AND I choose not to be a Gator snobette (today) and have varied the team colors in my picks!

Forever 21

How great is this dress!?!? So classy and cute, right? And for that price? Sign me up!

This dress comes in almost EVERY color! It could work for all you college football loving Southern Belles!

Photobucket
Diane von Furstenberg

Can you believe this? Do you think DVF is an LSU fan? Sad, but maybe true by the looks of this dress.

Photobucket
Lily Pulitzer
$283
This dress would work perfectly for any team! Just pair with your team's color shoe or bangle!

Photobucket
Kate Spade
$355
I know you Georgia girls would look great in this Kate Spade dress! Especially with some red flats!

How was everyones gameday? Hope everyone had fun cheering on their favorite teams!

Fashion Tuition

Oh, tuition woe is me! Since I am from the great state of sunny Florida, I was lucky enough to have my college paid for by Bright Futures, a program for high achieving high school students. (Unfortunately the death of this program is right around the corner because of this darn recession! Boo that!) As a result, I have lived the past 4 years blissfully ignorant of the reality of paying for my education!!!

Since I am in graduate school now, not only are the classes more expensive, but NOW I AM CHARGED FOR THEM! Ok, I realize some of you might think I am outside of my mind freaking out about paying for school but there are so many Florida residents who are in the same sinking ship boat as I am. Holy moly. School is EXPENSIVE! WHO KNEW!?!?

So, I wanted to blog of all the purchases I would like to make instead of paying for my tuition. How this will make me feel better about paying for school my nice parents paying for my school, I do not know. Maybe you all can think of how it does!

Photobucket
I have LOVED this watch for a while! AND with the DIAMONDS um hello. I want.

Photobucket
Since I switched to Blackberry, and then to iPhone, I have been keeping my entire LIFE in my iCalendar. I have NO hard copy of my calendar, even though it is synced through MobileMe on my Mac Book, iPhone, and MobileMe account. Today in class I realized there was a problem with my syncing and my calendars were all screwy! Immediate anxiety ensued! I have to check my calendar one million times a day and I am STILL afraid that some appointments, assignments, and dates have been lost forever! So, I think that this agenda cover would be perf for the switch from digital!

Photobucket
I have the matching ring and earrings, NOW I just need the bracelet!!! The color stone matches everything! It is a beautiful color in between green and blue! Now if only I was taking one less class........

Photobucket
JUST because. I got in the spirit of being excessive. So sue me.

Ok now I have to go study for the aforementioned classes. Then I will go to sleep and dream about more pretty things! What big ticket items are you all lusting over right now??? I would love to know!!

Summer Lovin'

Trying out my first BISON burger in Ohio! (Do you know that Bison has less fat, calories, AND cholesterol than CHICKEN?!?!? WHO KNEW?!?!?)

Hi everyone! I would like to take a moment to say a big THANK YOU to all my wonderful followers! Follow me on Twitter too if you just can't get enough of me! (Haha, joking, but really.) I love reading all of your comments and getting to know everyone! Feel free to email me anytime at throughpinkcoloredglasses@gmail.com ! I would LOVE to hear all of your suggestions for future blog posts or give any advice!

Since sweet summertime is starting to come to a close (the only reason I am partially o.k. with that is because I can wear my Coach boots and Burberry scarf,) I have decided to hang on to the last ray of summer sunshine with this blog post.
Photobucket
Here are some things that help me enjoy the last second of Summer. Since I live in sunny Florida, I have a little bit more time than some of you. BUT, Summer can be a STATE OF MIND! Being a Floridian, I DO NOT follow the rule of "No White After Labor Day." HELLO. What a dumb rule! What fashion racist came up with that?!?!? AND they didn't make up the term "winter whites" out of no where. I am not saying to bust out your white Jack Rogers in the middle of January, I am just saying to not follow these ancient fashion rules! Think about it, if Coco Chanel didn't break the rigid fashion constraints of the 1920's, we might still be wearing petticoats and corsets! YUCK!

Summer Lovin' these things...

A Deliciously Refreshing Drink
Photobucket
I found this amazing recipe for a deliciously fruity summer drink in Southern Living Magazine. It makes a beautiful watermelon drink that will cool you off after a hot summer day! I think that this drink would be PERFECT to make for a chic BBQ party! I would serve the drink a clear cocktail glass (because it would already be pretty and pink) and garnish with a small chunk of watermelon! I love the above picture that I found on SlashFood. They stuck a straw through the chunk of watermelon!

Watermelons are also SUPER healthy and full of lycopene! (The awesome antioxidant that helps prevent disease! Yummy and healthy!)
Watermelon Cooler
Take 4 cups seedless watermelon and 1/4 cup sugar in a blender until smooth. Scrape down the sides as needed. Pour through a wire strainer, discarding the solids. Stir in 2 cups cold water. Cover and chill for about an hour. Serve over ice

I actually have these Paige Denim jeans from last year and apparently they haven't changed! The only thing that HAS changed is that I spent $179 for these suckers! Even though I just maaaay be a little bitter about that, they are a really great style and match almost everything, especially pretty colorful silk tops!

Photobucket

OK, I realize I am killing myself here as a Gator fan listing jean shorts as one of my favorite Summer things. If you are not familiar with the Florida Gators, many other (jealous) teams like to say "Gator Fans Wear Jean Shorts" as a dig. Well, I do wear jean shorts and I like them. My outfit of choice for Gator games although is always a pretty sundress. But I digress. I will take that dig, and I will embrace my love of jean shorts. I have these Forever21 shorts and they are SO cute!
Photobucket
Above I have include a picture I took at the Florida Georgia Game (aka the World's Largest Cocktail Party) of a jealous Georgia fan with his lovely sign to prove I did not make this diss up. I mean, I would take the jorts dig any day over being forced to hang out with this homeboy. (If you are wondering what the creepy blur on the left is I blurred out one of my innocent friend's faces so that she was not associated with this degenerate. Go Gators.)

A Great Summer Jam
Photobucket
If you aren't familiar with Shwayze, they are an awesome rap/rock band out of Cali. They have a great feel-good-tap-your-steering-wheel-bounce-in-your-chair-with-a-grimace kind of sound. I am loving their new song "Get U Home" and think it is going to be a big hit. Take a listen and check out the music video!

Now go enjoy your last bit of SUMMER!!!
