The Cleanse

{The goods}

I have the will power of a 500 pound hoarder.  (Okay, maybe not with everything, but definitely in this case.)  I am okay with my lack of dedication because with every failure, you learn something new.  With this failure, I learned I am terrible at dieting and I never want to see a kale leaf...ever again.  Still wondering what I am talking about?  I attempted a juice cleanse.  Key word: Attempted.

{Mmm breakfast}

I have been feeling somewhat sluggish lately and thought that this cleanse would be the perfect start to feeling awesome.  Also, I am going to Los Angeles and Las Vegas on Thursday and wanted to look great on my trip.  Well, it was a good idea...in theory.  Thankfully for you all, I have a lot of great advice if you have the will to try it for yourself.

I discovered the Red Carpet Cleanse company through a Daily Candy email last week.  I was immediately drawn to it not only because the company gives their cleanse schedule and recipes away for free, but also because this cleanse includes actual fruits and vegetables instead of water, maple syrup, lemons, and cayenne pepper.  If you simply register on their site they will email you PDF files of the exact details of the diet, smoothie recipes, and a grocery list!

{A rainbow of juices}

This juice cleanse is only one day and requires you to have a juicer and a blender.  (And mad dedication, of course.)  I wanted to do the cleanse for two days...good idea Sarah.  I knew that if I were to actually do the cleanse, I would need to make all my juices before I actually started the cleanse.  Two days before, limit (or eliminate) meat and sugar from your diet.  I also tried to limit my dairy intake as well.

{Kinda looks like a rainbow...kinda looks like vomit}

To be perfectly honest, the juices do not taste that bad.  I am a big "texture person" and did not mind them at all.  Most of the juices just taste like you are drinking a cucumber...which isn't all that bad.  Kind of refreshing actually.  Since I obviously admitted that I failed at keeping up my juice diet, here are some tips I have for anyone who considers taking on the challenge.  In case you are wondering, I basically made it through one day.  I didn't experience any strange "bathroom issues" and I never even felt jittery.  I will attempt to do this cleanse again and I will follow my own advice next time!  Please let me know if you have any questions, I am more than happy to share my experience and hopefully help you all will actually stick to it!

  1. Great post! Do you have a link to the information on the actual diet? I think I might want to try it.

  2. Sure! If you just go to their website and register they will email you the PDF files with all the information! They haven't even spammed me once since they sent me all of the files the first time. I didn't want to attach the files for people to download in case they found my post and got angry that I was giving it away without people registering :) Just visit http://redcarpetcleanses.com/ and enter your email address! It is super easy and the PDF's are great! Thanks!!

    Sarah

  3. Don't watch tv commercials is the BEST tip of all. They always slaughter any attempt I make at trying to eat clean! GO Gators!

  4. #2 and #8 sent me into hysterics!! I'm not sure how I found myself here, but happy I did.

    I've done a cleanse twice. Last year I lost my mind and did one with the bf. It lasted 2 months and was brutal to begin with, but after 2 weeks kind of leveled out. I'm sure you think I'm completely off my rocker now - but it did work.

    Thanks for sharing!

I did the "soup" diet before the Bahamas a few years ago and I had similar results.. haha stale rice cakes did look good. I do like that you gave tips- good insight. I may be trying it before a cruise this year.
