Nerd Alert

It is no secret that I am a dork at heart.  I love technology and read tech blogs almost as much as I read fashion blogs.  Naturally, when the Flip HD mini video camera came out...I had to have one to call my own!  Thankfully, I dismissed my urge to impulse buy because I knew there would be a bigger and better model released soon after.  After much consideration and research, I decided against the Flip and opted for the rugged, feature-filled Kodak PlaySport.  (Well, my nice parents bought me it for my birthday...thanks Mom and Dad!)

Photobucket

Since I am a little rough on my tech toys, I knew the waterproof camera was the only choice for me.  Also, the PlaySport does not have in internal memory and instead uses memory cards.  I preferred this option because I won't be limited with storage.  I also found an adorable Acme Made case to protect my new toy.  I can not wait to start filming every moment this summer!  Any ideas for my first vlog???

Coachella Envy

Photobucket

There are three days left for Californians and shoeless hippies alike to throw their macrame sacks over their shoulders and head to the desert setting of Indio, California for Coachella 2010.  Coachella is a multi-genre music festival that has featured headliners such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beastie Boys, and Madonna since the dawn of the new millennium.  (If you say it like that it sounds like a really long time, huh?)

Photobucket

Sadly, I will be forced to listen closely to the western winds if I want hear any Jay-Z, Wale, or Imogen Heap from a source other than my iPod since I will be stuck studying for finals in the FLA.  If I could go to Coachella 2010...here are some Free People looks I'd love to rock.

Candy Cigarettes are so 1998

Photobucket

Hello Kitty wine is so 2010.  (As if the modern day youngster does not have enough potential "Intervention" caliber vices to lure them off the straight and narrow...)  The curious cartoon cat is now peddling four Italian-made spirits to children ages 8 to 16 legal drinking age adults with an affinity for pink, booze, and overpriced tchochkes covered in cartoons.  As if Wendy Williams' show isn't making you say "What is this world coming to?!?" enough...

(I still want a bottle. Darn cat.)

Anglophiles Unite

Photobucket

Alright, I have officially lost it.  I watched an HSN special for an hour as if it was an episode of a real television show.  Was I enthralled by the allure of a new state-of-the-art bird feeder?  A complete set of every Rachel Ray cookbook ever published?  No no friends!  I was sucked in by one of the most iconic beauties of all time.  Twiggy.

Photobucket

Twiggy has teamed up with HSN to create a jolly good new line that caters to both young and old.  (Mostly old judging by the oodles of callers I listened to throughout the hour long program.  At one point I actually had anxiety that all the grandmas were going to grab all the goods before me.  Seriously, I need help.)  There are a couple of the usual meemaw-friendly pieces that are present in most every home shopping collection but there are also some true treasures.  My faves can take you all the way from foggy London town to your local Wal-Mart.

Photobucket

I can not wait to get my Twig-tastic picks in the mail.  I chose the navy Union Jack tote (way better looking on TV), white aviators, and the pink and orange colorblock top (that I fully plan on wearing as a dress, don't judge).  Needless to say I completely understand why these channels persist through the years.  By the end of that hour I wanted it all!

Spotted: Gossip Worthy Looks

This season's Gossip Girl is as drama-filled and fashion packed as the backstage of any top runway show.  I always look to the trendtastic Upper East Siders for outfit inspiration and this season is no exception.  This week's episode was chock full of the boho-meets-rocker-meets-prep-meets-indie looks that we have come to know and love as Gossip worthy fashion.  To celebrate all things Serena and Blair, I have created a slew of "It Girl" looks that are sure to get you spotted.  Each look incorporates handbags and shoes from the celebrity coveted line, Be & D.  This week's episode of Gossip Girl featured seven of the line's hottest handbags.  I discovered this phenomenal line through a giveaway with The Purse Blog.  I was not the winner of their spectacular studded wallet so I will simply admire it from afar...sigh.

Get spotted with these Gossip worthy looks!

Photobucket
{The Serena}
Miss Van der Wootsen is best known for her plunging necklines and beatnik chic style.  Serena even brings the sexy to the most conservative of prep school uniforms.  Wavy, beach blown locks are her trademark...no sleek chignons for this Gossip Girl.

Photobucket
{The Blair}
Bows, closed-toes, and no-show modest ensembles are the trademarks of this Gossip Girl.  Blair gravitates toward the prim and proper...even if her attitude proves otherwise.  Since Miss Waldorf is the offspring of fashion mogul Eleanor Waldorf, couture runs through her veins.

Photobucket
{The Vanessa}
Label lust does not plague Dan Humphrey's BFF (and current flavor of the week).  Vanessa pairs thrifty second-hand finds with ornate conversation piece jewels to create a unique coffee house chic look.  If you are planning on hitting up the open-mic poetry night at your local bookstore, this Gossip Girl's look is for you.

Photobucket
{The Jenny}
Little J has transformed from a loft-dwelling Blair wannabe to a trend setting, fashion designing debutante.  Her edgy style juxtaposes feminine touches with hard rock fashion influences.  This season, Jenny Humphrey continues to impress Eleanor with her design savvy and contemporary perspective.

XOXO Gossip Girls!

Get Carried Away

Photobucket

If you're like me, those three words do not mean your locale is changing against your will...they mean baubles, bling, couture, and four fierce fashionable females.  If you are still lost...Sex and the City 2 is coming out in May!  Patricia Field, the creative costume designer behind SATC, is sure to wow fashionistas both young and old yet again with some of the most uniquely chic wardrobes the world has ever seen.

Photobucket

A sampling of the jewelry that will appear in SATC 2 is from a self-titled line designed by the stunning Aussie, Samantha Wills.  The model turned jewelry entrepreneur began with humble beginnings selling her wares at Sydney's Bondi Beach Markets.  Her business has since migrated state-side and has caught the eye of celebrities such as Nicole Richie and Nicky Hilton.

Photobucket

Samantha's line is a beautiful barrage of bohemian inspired necklaces, rings, earrings, and bangles.  I absolutely adore the entire line and can't wait to own one (or more than one) of Samatha's designs.  Above is a sampling of some of the jewelry that is featured in the upcoming flick.  May can't come soon enough.  I am ready to Get Carried Away!

Game. Set. Match.

Photobucket

Whilst browsing through the Lady Gaga Look Book on New York Magazine's website, a fabulously chic advertisement caught my eye on the right of my screen.  I thought, "Hm, a pretty blonde girl in fabulous clothes playing badminton?  I simply must find out more!"  Naturally, I clicked.

Photobucket

The "pretty blonde girl" is actually tennis ace Maria Sharapova peddling her line for Cole Haan.  I am late finding out about this line simply because usually when I think about Cole Haan...well I usually do not think about Cole Haan.  In my mind, Cole Haan's shoe designs are sensible.  "Sensible" is not exactly a word I like to describe my shoe taste.  To my surprise, Sharapova's line is a fashion forward grand slam.  I simply must have a pair!  (Or more then one pair...or five pairs...but who's counting?)  Well played Cole Haan, well played.
